The demand to modernize the zinc oxide production facility established in Slovzink, j.s.c. Košeca with the goal of automation and increased production efficiency led to the creation of a high-temperature gasifier for solid fuel with a regulated composition of flue gases. The current equipment for rotary furnace direct heating by with generator gas is similar to the technology developed at the end of the nineteenth century and still used in the production of zinc oxide in rotary furnace by the American process.

The development of a new device is focused on stabilizing the heat output and flue gas composition. The suggested technique implies a higher efficiency of processing zinc waste from galvanic operations by lowering secondary waste formation and improving the final product quality.
